Box Elder is native to North America. It is known for it's impressive burls ( a large knot that forms and makes some spectacular patterns). The Box Elder also has some reddish hues throughout the grain. It is considered a soft hardwood. Spectacular hardwood tables (especially river tables) come from these amazing wood slabs.
Ambrosia maple displays a patchwork pattern of stunning gray streaks infused with Maple's usual clear white color and plain grain. The appearance is actually caused by the Ambrosia beetle that carries a fungus on its legs that causes the discoloration throughout the wood slabs.

Elm is a beautiful wood with heartwood colours that range from light to medium reddish-brown and a paler sapwood that is off-white in colour. Elm wood has a prominent growth ring pattern and interlocking wood grain with a coarse, uneven texture. The interlocked grain features unique swirls and waves that make it stand out.
Cherry heartwood is a light pinkish brown when freshly cut, darkening to a medium reddish brown with time and upon exposure to light. Sapwood is a pale yellowish color.
Ash is a light coloured, smooth-grained hardwood that grows throughout the east coast of Canada. With its typical straight grain and beige-to-light-brown hue, ash wood is a very attractive option for fine furniture. Its one of the most durable varieties and has an extensive history in furniture making.
